About Wolverhampton U3A

About Us

Retired from full-time employment, looking to stretch your mind, extend your social life and have some fun? The U3A may be just what you're looking for.

Wolverhampton U3A, formed in 1996 is an autonomous, self-help, organisation offering educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment. We run a monthly meeting on the afternoon of the fourth Tuesday of each month. This usually includes a talk of general interest with time for conversation over refreshments. We also run occasional visits and socials. But the core element is the interest groups usually held in members' homes. Our parent body, The Third Age Trust recognises the immense resources of skills, knowledge and enthusiasm possessed by older people, and members work together as both teachers and learners in a quest for true life-long learning. New members are encouraged to talk to group coordinators or to sample sessions to help them choose which groups to join. Everyone is encouraged to suggest new interest groups.

What Is The U3A ?

U3A stands for University of the Third Age and the U3A approach to learning is- learning for pleasure. Educational qualifications are not required for membership and none are awarded.

Wolverhampton U3A Membership

Membership costs ten pounds per year, and at monthly meetings we pay one pound 50 ( two pounds for visitors) to cover room hire, refreshments and speaker costs. Interest groups cover their own, usually small, costs.
